A Little About Myself

My name is Midge Hising (Makaike) Louaillier.  From 1962-1979 I was an active, baptized Witness. In late 1978, certain events took place in the congregation in which I was associated. Being a part of what went on during that time brought me to the place where I no longer believed that the Organization spoke for Jehovah or that it was His true channel of communication..

I knew where I didn’t want to be but I didn't know where I was supposed to be. I had to trust that Jehovah would show me that place. Where he led me was to his Son. This may sound strange to some for, as a Witness, it's easy to think you know all you need to know about Jesus--I know I felt that way. I was very familiar with all the Scriptures about him and all this Christian talk about Jesus left me thinking, "But I know all that."

I didn't realize that although men could tell me all about Jesus, although I could read all about him in the Bible, be familiar with all the words he spoke, unless Jehovah drew me to him, unless God's Spirit revealed him to me, I would never really know him.

"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.... Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. ...no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him." John 6:44,45,65

And so, being drawn to Jesus was the beginning of my spiritual journey, a journey that has lasted twenty-eight years and is still ongoing. What I have learned, how I have been changed has surpassed anything I could have imagined.

And this is what I wish for you, that the Father would draw you to Christ and reveal him to you. Then you will find inner peace.

"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." John 14: 26,27

Jesus also promised, "Come to me, all you who are loaded down, and I will refresh you. ...for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light." Matthew 11:28-30

My desire is that the information contained on these pages will help those who are struggling with the challenges associated with leaving the Watchtower.

Leaving is never easy. To do so means to give up a way of life, to give up your friends and family, and to be in a place where you are forced to question all the beliefs you once held to be true.

I believe that only a person who has been a Witness can truly understand what it's like to leave this organization. For when you leave, you not only leave the Organization, you leave a belief system that has been a huge part of your life.

It can be a great encouragement to talk to others who have gone through this process and who have come out intact, both spiritually and emotionally.
